SEC proposed amendments to the electronic recordkeeping and prompt production of records requirements applicable to broker-dealers, security-based swap dealers (SBSDs), and major security-based swap participants (MSBSPs) which was adopted in 1997. This involves the preservation of electronic records exclusively in a non-rewriteable and non-erasable format. By having updated recordkeeping systems, it would be easier and efficient for broker-dealers in protecting the authenticity and reliability of original records.
